KoolSun - Children's Sun Protection

KoolSun was started in 1999 by Liz Gearing and Rachel Payne who met at a toddler group whilst pregnant with their third children and quickly became friends.

Liz had spent many years living in Australia where the dangers of the sun have long been recognised and on her return to the UK was very dissatisfied with the availability and price of simple legionnaire style sun hats, let alone full sun protective suits. She became increasingly convinced of the need for a reasonably priced and readily available brand to be launched and Rachel, having lived in Singapore, was the perfect business partner.

During 1999 Liz and Rachel visited Toddler and Mothers groups in the local area to sell their first small range of sun protective clothing. In the years that followed, KoolSun increased their range to include different fabrics and refined their designs to take into account feedback from parents.

In January 2003 KoolSun produced their first colour brochure and their website followed shortly after. They now design, manufacture, wholesale and retail a range of 10 different designs and patterns and their brochure and website offer an ever increasing range of sun protective accessories.

Liz and Rachel have six children between them.

All the sun-creams, shoes, accessories and toys you see on this website have been tried and tested by their own children.

If it doesn’t fit, doesn’t work, isn’t fun or just doesn’t pass the ‘KoolSun Kids’ test, it doesn’t get on the KoolSun website.

In short, if they wouldn’t buy it themselves, they won’t sell it to you!
