How to Choose Clothes for Toddlers – Children’s Nightwear

When looking to buy nightwear for toddlers, it’s important to think about the time of year, the temperature in your house and whether your toddler is mobile.

There is a huge choice of nightwear available online so you should find something that suits your needs. Considerations for choice should also include whether your toddler sleeps in a sleeping bag, under a sheet or hates bed clothes.

Children's Nightware - Sleep Suits

Sleep suits are a great way of travelling with a toddler – if you’re making a return journey in the evening, there is nothing better than having your child travel in his sleep suit in order to put him straight to bed on your return. What can happen however is that sitting in his car seat in the car, baby can overheat so you have to change him anyway when you return home.

Sleep suits come in many styles most having poppers around the legs and nappy areas. Try and stick to cotton fibre sleep suits and if possible have a look at the organic baby and toddler clothes ranges available as they are extremely soft.

If your house is very warm, you could have your child sleeping in a cotton body suit either with or without a sleeping bag. Cotton body suits come with tee shirt style sleeves or long sleeves so short sleeved body suits can be great for warmer weather, while long sleeve body suits combine well with sleeping bags in cooler weather.

As your toddler gets more mobile you can look at putting him into soft cotton pyjamas or your little girl into cotton nighties. If you do move your child onto pyjamas just make sure that the elastic around the waist is not too restrictive and that they still has room to stretch. Pyjama tops definitely should not have poppers at the back of the neck.

Sleep suits can still be used with older babies but if they are all-in-ones and baby gets too hot, they have no way of cooling down. Like you, baby will look to free his feet in order to cool down. Try and choose sleep suits therefore that have no feet.

Little girls look great in night dresses but you need to check out that the material conforms to UK standards.
