How to Choose Childrens Clothes for ToddlersBuying clothes for babies over the age of one year can be even more fun that buying clothes for newborn babies. When babies reach the age of one year they may actually be walking or beginning to cruise the furniture so you want to make sure that that clothes you buy for your baby now are not going to trip them up or get snagged on the corners of coffee tables, or trap them in their bed. Toddlers need clothes that allow them to explore, keep their knees protected where possible and also allow some air to circulate still around the nappy area. And although you may be tempted by the old adage, they’ll grow into them – just make sure the clothes you buy are not so big that they fall over their trouser legs. Check all toddler clothes before you buy them – some companies that sell baby clothes use soft fabric that feels absolutely wonderful but either has to be dry cleaned or washed at 30 degrees. If you’re happy to cope with baby clothes that need careful looking after then by all means go ahead and buy these beautifully crafted creations. So you need to make sure that your toddler wears the kind of clothes most suited to their interests and activities. Because your toddler will be into water, paints, crayons, play dough and anything else that create mess, make sure that clothes you choose for them to wear are not going to cause upset if they do get messy. Early on being a mum or dad you may have a tendency to expect some sense of orderliness and cleanliness that you can control but once your wee one has a paint brush in his hands, he’ll take control and paint whatever feels good – including his khaki trousers and white tee shirt if not your expensivecurtain fabric. Boden also has a great range of activity clothing for the adventurous toddler. Boden believes that clothes should look good as well as be durable for the active child. When your toddler wears something from Boden you’ll relax knowing that they are able to crawl around in the garden and roll around in the sandpit to their heart’s content while you can simply remove the item of clothing and bung it in the washing machine later. Petit Bateau has a wonderful range of nautical inspired designs for toddlers available from Igloo Kids including great cotton all in ones with popper studs and stripey stretchy trousers and jumpers.
